We are the Detroit Association of Educational Office Employees (DAEOE), an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers.  We don’t work in the classroom, but the classroom wouldn’t work without us.

Our members have dedicated years of time, hard work and attention to make sure our schools run efficiently and effectively, and provide high-quality educational services for Detroit’s students and their families.

Our years of dedicated service to the Detroit Public Schools (DPS) and now Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) have given us valuable experience and motivation for school reform.

We know our schools can be improved, and we believe in the potential for success.

We have invested in Detroit’s schools, and we know that strong schools are essential to building a stronger community.

Our President Ruby Newbold, AFT Vice President and PSRP PPC Chair, helped to lead the three-day conference held at the Detroit Marriott. Here are some of the photos from the weekend that featured AFT President Randi Weingarten; Lorretta Johnson, AFT Secretary-Treasurer; David Hecker, AFT Michigan President; and Alycia Meriweather, Interim Superintendent for Detroit Public Schools Community District.
